As the date of Amazon Prime Day has been confirmed, now is a great time to get started with Amazon Prime and take advantage of its benefits and savings. As an Amazon Prime member and Deals Writer, I have been looking for ways to save money on Amazon Prime and have found some great tricks to keep costs down. Here are 5 ways I save money on Amazon Prime, including streaming and shipping.
Pay annually instead of monthly
The first way to save money on Amazon Prime is to change your monthly subscription to an annual subscription. While most of us enjoy the flexibility of monthly payments, annual subscriptions are extremely cost effective and can save lots of money every year. Amazon Prime currently costs £ 7.99 / $ 14.99 per month, which if you pay every month for an entire year, you pay around £ 95 / $ 180 per year. But if you were to opt for an annual subscription, you would pay a one-time fee of £ 79 / $ 139, which is significantly lower than paying monthly.
2. Divide your Prime account and split the bill
If you live with someone else and both want to use Amazon Prime, share the cost by sharing an account. For example, I live with and share an Amazon Prime subscription with my boyfriend and we split the monthly cost in half each month. But if you and your partner or roommate both have an Amazon Prime account, you can merge them to share the Prime benefits with Amazon Household.
Amazon Household allows Amazon Prime members to share their Prime benefits with their family. To share Prime benefits with Amazon Household, two adults (each with their own Prime account) must link their accounts and agree to share payment methods. Both adults still have their own account while sharing Prime benefits and can manage their children’s or families’ profiles by setting goals and time limits and choosing what content to watch. Essentially, this means that you can use all the benefits and services of Amazon Prime together so that you do not have to buy things back or worry about switching accounts too much. According to TimeThis can reduce the cost of your Prime subscription and give family members access to apps, games, ebooks, streaming and more.

When Amazon Prime Day arrives in July, you will need a Prime account to shop for sales.
