The new Sens Eventi Spring Festival will start on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8. Many workshops, tours and music performances at the suggestive location

Workshops, artistic and musical performances, guided tours for adults and children eager to learn, play and have fun: spring becomes a big event in the Botanical Garden of Rome, where Sens Eventi organizes “Era di Maggio” on 7 and 8 May, a feast for families and a precious opportunity to meet, to discover the secrets of plants, flowers, nature and biodiversity. Precisely to make the approach to the environment tangible, combined with an important dissemination goal, Sens Eventi, a leading company in the organization of events led by its CEO Francesca Romana Maroni, opens its doors in collaboration with the Botanical Garden Museum until the 2022 edition of Era Di Maggio, an open-air event dedicated to families and all floriculture enthusiasts.

The Trastevere Garden will be the setting and co-protagonist, a real oasis of biodiversity on the slopes of the Janiculum Hill and managed by the Department of Environmental Biology of the Sapienza of Rome. “Era di Maggio” therefore becomes a great spring festival for adults and children among green plants, colorful flowers and rare botanical collections. Animating every two days, more than 140 events designed to teach the most fascinating secrets of nature through play and fun† There are creative workshops for the little ones, organized by the Cartartist and G.Eco association, and for adults, as well as artistic and musical performances, handicraft exhibitions, guided visits to the wonders of the museum and book presentations, street food and wine tasting.

The focus of this edition is on the rose and iris collections of the Botanical Gardenwith their kaleidoscope of colors, protagonists of extraordinary itineraries entitled “The Path of Colors”, led by Maretta Colasante, one of the leading international iris experts, and Stefano Marzullo, in charge of the rose garden, but also of the demonstration workshops “Alla Discovery of the Roses “owned by Davide Dalla Libera, a recognized rose grower who will present for the occasion a new variety produced by him with his company Novaspina.

The irises will also be the leitmotif of the “Bubbles Of Art” meetings reserved for adults who want to enjoy a few hours of relaxation between canvases, colors and brushes, following the famous painting by Van Gogh† “Era Di Maggio” will also be an opportunity for all visitors, Romans and not only, to discover the most imaginative corners of the Botanical Garden thanks to thematic guided tours: “The Path of Water”, for example, allows participants to walk between the historic fountains, ponds and water springs fed by the Paolo aqueduct that embellish the garden.

The routes can be booked directly within the event, the average duration, the difficulty of the terrain and the type of route are indicated. To immerse yourself even more in the surrounding nature and to get to know the century-old trees present in the Trastevere Garden, special meetings will be organized in which Claudio Scintu, didactic manager of the Botanical Garden, the theme of Silvotherapy and well-being will deepen that contact with nature can convey.

The novelty of this edition of Era Di Maggio is the “Silkworm Village”, curated by Annamaria Bellinello, a laboratory for all ages that will investigate through board games all aspects of the life of these special moths, native to Asia. During the two days, with a free offer, you will also have access to the Butterfly House where operators will guide you to discover these extraordinary winged creatures† The creative workshop “Uva!” will also be dedicated to the little ones, a workshop curated by Vinicio Mita, didactic operator and wine producer, dedicated to the fruit symbol of the god Bacchus. Another important novelty is the focus on bees and their importance to the ecosystem. Mario Petrella de Le api di Mario, will reveal the mechanisms and secrets hidden in the hive, from the tasks of the bees to the production of honey.

Animal and plant species in danger of extinction will be the protagonists of another great encounter planned in Era Di Maggio: Marshal Candeloro Calabrò of the Guardia di Finanza – Flying Operational Team of the CITES service, will delve into the seminar “Fauna and Flora in Danger? Protection from Extinction ”, all species controlled through the regulation of international trade. But that’s not all. d
OOn May 8, from 11:30 am, the music band of the Guardia di Finanza will also be present in the Botanical Garden, which will perform a performance of the highest level, lasting about 40 minutes, demonstrating the high and recognized skills in the performance of the enormous repertoire consisting of original pieces and transcriptions, but also of modern music. Another major focus will be art, present at different moments of the event, which will also be animated by musical performances, in the spaces of l’Aranciera, of the Liceo Scientifico and Musicale Farnesina and through the Dance Painting shows between music, dance and painting. , by Maurizio Pio Rocchi and Vanessa Valle.

The meeting between art, people, science and nature will also be the leitmotif of the exhibition of the works of Marco Scaccia, but also moments dedicated to reading with the presentation of two books: In a seed. Small Collector’s Guide to Wonders by Beti Piotto and Gioia Marchegiani, and Cimart, a collection of works born from the collaboration between the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology and the Alessandro Caravillani Art School in Rome. Finally, during Era Di Maggio there are food and ice cream corners, but also exhibitors of bulbs and rhizomes, carnivorous plants, succulents and kokeda, but also handicrafts such as jewelry and home accessories. In the garden you can also book comfortable and delicious wicker picnic baskets, for adults and children, of the YAM brand, with in addition to the disposable towel, filled sandwiches and salads, sweets and crispy chips for lunch outdoors in the middle of nature.
