Every year, the Sites en Scènes come back to life during the summer season to offer you a cultural program focused on the heritage of the Charente-Maritime department.

For its 27th edition, 112 appointments are planned at 29 sites throughout the country. Theatre, concerts, pyrotechnics, humour, festivals… The 2022 vintage promises to be festive and creative “for arouse the emotions of some 350,000 expected viewers!“.

Culture for everyone, everywhere!

The inhabitants of Charentais-Maritimes and visitors from other departments will be filled with emotions for this new edition of Sites en Scènes. A time of celebration “and joy” that will last three months (from June to September).

It is time to plug in our alarm clocks so that we can enjoy life, especially in this unsettling context with the war in Ukraine and the health crisis”, rejoices Sylvie Marcilly, president of the Department of Charente-Maritime.

If the president of the Department chose the image of the alarm clock to represent this event in the official poster, it is not insignificant. It’s time for a cultural wake-up call!

The summer season is fast approaching and elected officials, in collaboration with associations and other cultural organizations, have wanted to mark the occasion once again by offering different approaches to their heritage.

This year there is a wide variety of shows. Theater, music, street arts… It only lacks a little dance, but it is not always easy to find, we lack dancers”, explains Catherine Desprezfirst vice-president of the Department in charge of cultural policy.

These shows are in a way a kind of introduction to the Heritage Days that will take place on September 17 and 18. In addition, the locations of the performances have been selected to surprise you.

However, you also have to see the framework. Often, it is a big part of Scenic Sites since we are in places with vegetation, stone, castles…we have a lot of sites extraordinary “, she adds.

The Sites en Scène, a strong marker of Charente-Maritime, highlight the diversity of its cultural and historical identity by offering varied and high-quality shows. The 29 labeled spaces received financial aid from the Department amounting to 576,500 euros.

A vintage full of promises!

We have launched an eclectic program aimed at the widest possible audience with joy and good humor. All this would not have been possible without the application of volunteers, municipalities, elected authorities, artists and people who want to contribute to this beautiful attraction of our department”, adds Sylvie marcilly.
