Battiato and the territory of Milo. Not just a residence, but also and above all a place for the soul. From this idea the importance not only of enhancing the memory, but of building around the figure of this artist a planning that takes into account the many artistic disciplines he frequented.
“Passage notes” is the title of the initiative homage to Battiato, on the occasion of the first anniversary of his death, which will be held in Milos from Wednesday 18th to Sunday 22nd Mayon the initiative of the Municipality, with the patronage of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity of the Sicilian Region and in collaboration with the Permanent Gravity Study Center, the tourist association Pro Loco Milo and the Michele Amari Institute of Giarre.

“For this reason, the initiative that is presented – explained the mayor of Milo, Alfio Cosentino – does not want to be a mere celebration, the simple memory of an anniversary but a starting point to sprout new enthusiasm, new interests and above all many projects in the name of quality and research “.
Paolo Sessa, organizer of the event, adds: “The initiative we are presenting is very complex and takes into account the many interests of Battiato: music, first of all, but also painting, cinema, literature, theater and dance. . Not to mention spirituality, esotericism and philosophies … disciplines that he not only said but practiced, which have become his daily bread “.
Alfredo Cavallaro, president of the Pro Loco di Milo underlines: “In particular, the presence of Stefano Pio, musician and son of the great Giusto Pio, wants to be a very precise sign of our will to follow in the footsteps traced by this artist. In Milo we have created, precisely in the name of Battiato, a particular synergy with the Permanent Gravity Study Center, with which, together with other subjects we intend to carry out projects that enhance the territory of Milo, which in some way make it an icon of culture and knowledge “.
